Experience
I received my master's degree from the University of California. My background is in math education and I have taught students in middle school, high school, and college. I had the opportunity to teach multiple subjects at a small charter school funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. There I was able to focus on innovative educational techniques and practices such as project-based learning, early college preparation, and student directed learning activities. When I work with students, my primary goal is to help build their confidence so they truly believe they have the ability to succeed. This is accomplished by giving them opportunities to experience academic success during their tutoring sessions. One of the most important skills a student can have is critical thinking, the ability to analyze a problem and find a solution. This skill is necessary in all subjects, but especially mathematics.I specialize in helping students develop their math skills. Some of the courses I tutor include algebra 1 & 2, arithmetic, elementary math, geometry, middle school math, pre-calculus, statistics, and trigonometry. I also help students enhance their study skills and enhance their organization to facilitate a more positive school experience. When I am not working with students I enjoy yoga, camping, traveling, and reading.
